Silver coins for investment are typically minted in a weight of one ounce of fine silver. As government minted coins with a face value (generally very different from the intrinsic value), these investment coins enjoy global acceptance and a high degree of trust. The numbers of these machine produced coins issued are generally very high, which explains why these items are not collector’s coins.
Occasionally certain countries also produce coins of a higher weight and face value which are very popular with collectors of contemporary silver coins due to the comparatively low numbers produced.
