4 Ducats dated 1915 are official restrikes of the gold ducats minted in Austria for centuries. Until 1857 they were considered circulation coins, from 1858 as trade coins (not legal tender) and from 1915 as pure bullion coins.
The coin is very popular and is often bought as a christening or wedding present.
The obverse features the portrait of Emperor Franz Joseph I, while the reverse shows the imperial and royal double-headed eagle, the heraldic bird of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy.
