1 oz Gold Buffalo (USA)

This beautiful gold coin has been struck in fine gold by the US Mint since 2006. It was the first fine gold coin with the weight of 1 ounce issued by the US Mint. The designs on this coin can also be seen on the 1913 5 cent coin (Buffalo Nickel). The mintage of this coin is smaller and the availability is rather low. It is important to note that gold used for the American Gold Buffalo must from natural deposits within the United States or its territories.

The obverse shows a portrait of an Indian with a feather headdress and the inscription "Liberty", while the reverse is adorned with a standing North American buffalo.
